Background

Clothing charities play a pivotal role in addressing waste in the fashion industry and supporting communities in need. However, they face challenges like excess inventory, unsorted donations, and logistical costs. To remain sustainable, innovative practices are essential.

 Problem Statement

  • Growing clothing donations.

  • Limited capacity to handle unsellable donations.

  • Rising operational costs, including waste, transport and reduction in volunteer hours.

Solution

CRUK introduced a strategic initiative to open RDCs to manage and process stock donations providing more support to the large network of shops.  I joined the team in Feb 2024 as a project manager to facilitate the opening of the second RDC ensuring that the key deliverables of dates and costs were met.

Following the successful opening of the RDC, I have continued to work with the charity providing support on maximising the revenue from donated stock which is sold in shops and online.
